Poet Rainer Maria Rilke wrote nearly 100 years ago that “to love another human being is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks”. Whether with a partner, sibling, or close friend, relationships are challenging & require work. You may be experiencing conflict and rift in your relationship, and you aren’t quite sure how to stop the cycle or how to close the gap between you. The conflict brings up such powerful emotions that it feels difficult if not impossible to tame them and heal the rift at the same time. Even when you try to reach for each other, it may work for a little while, only to find you push each other away again, often without even knowing how or why. At the heart of the conflict are the questions: Do you love me? Are you there for me? Can I really depend on you? Can I trust you?
I offer support for couples/pairs navigating problems and conflicts that they are struggling to manage on their own. I focus on identifying and learning to step out of your problematic patterns, learning to reach for each other in ways that foster intimacy and growth, and finally to consolidating the gains you have made. The goal is to move forward with each person feeling valued and heard.
